The 2nd edition of the Espaço à Quarta initiative ended on the 22nd of June, with a special participation of the LS Engenharia team with the theme “From Space to the Ocean”, where we debated about monitoring the ocean and coastline through space technolog, in particular through the use of satellites.
This 5th and final session also had as guests Pedro Lourenço, Vanda Brotas and João Fernandes, in addition to the participation of our Luís Sousa, and the role of moderator of the debate was occupied by Carolina Sá.
Espaço à Quarta consists of a free debate cycle, organized by Ciência Viva and by ESERO Portugal, with the collaboration of the Portuguese Space Agency, aimed at the general public and the educational community, as these resources can be used in the classroom context. One of the main objectives of this project is to reinforce the importance of Space in our daily lives, as well as its applications in different contexts.
As pollution, erosion and climate change are some of the problems that we now face, and which have worrisome effects on the ocean, becomes imperative to monitor the increasing risks to marine ecosystems and coastal regions through space technology, using systems such as satellites.
This was the theme of the last session of the 2nd edition of Espaço à Quarta, which took place at 6:30 pm on the 22nd of June, available here for viewing.
